This June’s offering at Sotheby’s is relatively modest with only 27 artworks auctioned for a total estimated valuation (*) of £28,350,000 for 25 artworks plus 2 artworks with no estimate: "Femme assise" from Pablo Picasso, which the auction house expects to sell in excess of £30 million; also "Jeanne Hebuterne (au foulard)", a beautiful portrait of Amadeo Modigliani’s beloved muse, which could bring more than £28 million.
Among the works, only five have a Low Estimate over £1 million (not including the two works with no estimate) and only one exceeds £3 million: a sculpture from Auguste Rodin: "Eve, grand modele - Version sans rocher a la base carree" which has a LE of £8 million.
The number of guarantees offered by Sotheby’s continues to be extremely modest: only the Modigliani artwork is covered by a guarantee and so far it is not backed by an Irrevocable Bid.
